Satellite Radio...
We got back from my Sister's yesterday (Our Christmas together) and my very nice Brother-in-Law bestowed on me a wonderful gift of Sirius Satellite Radio. He didn't give me a subscription, however, it is still a fine gift. He knows I am on the road everyday going to and fro from work.
So I checked out all the "Plans" and came up with the two year deal. Once I got that set up...and it wasn't easy...they are not that forthcoming on details of these plans. I was strongly looking at the $499.00 one time deal for a lifetime subscription but once I finally got to the page where I finalize the Plan...there was a disclaimer staing that it was ONLY for the radio equipment that I have....not any future radios. What a scam that was....no info on what if the radio breaks or gets stolen...nothing...so screw that!
Now once I got it installed in my car (Funny...wires everywhere...the radio is bouncing around on my seat.) the sound was pretty good. What I am going to do is set up a more permanent set up in the "Good Car"...or the wife's car...it is newer. My car has many miles on it and I will do a semi-permanent set up in it. I want to be able pull it out of one car and put it in another on the fly. So I will end up buying another antenna for Her car and run the wires underneath everything and make a clean nice install. Put the Docking station in Her car and use Velcro in mine.
I would like to get a different radio in the Wife's car...one that has a Line In jack. Better quality of sound then using the FM tunner. Not worth the money in my car for that.
All in all it is a nice techie toy to get for Christmas. Especially when we all go up north for vacation and such where radio stations are weak.

Don't worry about...it doesn't hurt my feelings. You can go ahead and go back to reading picture books.

Man, we're all getting a lil frustrated - do NOT post unless it's worth reading and about the topic. I know you've been warned before.
To dood:
Not really a fan of radio of any type but I heard Sirius is kickass. If I remember right Howard Stern is going to be broadcasting there and you can set up your own radio station via internet. That'd be cool - upload your play list and access it anywhere.

Well I usually listen to Talk radio on my morning drive. Bob & Tom and Drew & Mike(Detroit jocks) because it is funny. Howard is not my first choice....but I do back him up 100% on his freedom of speech tho. This is what I do like about Satellite Radio...it is similar to HBO,Showtime,etc...uncensered content.
Yes an also it has a 44 minute buffer on it so you can back up and catch what you missed or replay a song. Sports updates....like a Score and you don't have to listen to the game just have the radio let you know the scores...
To anyone that has to do a long commute to work everyday then a Radio is your friend...

Satellite radio ftw~ <3
I have XM instead of Sirius (built-in with the car), and I like it so far. What drove me to it was that it's totally commercial-free (unlike the local Jazz station that plays stuff that isn't Jazz).
Totally worth the subscription fee. Listening to the same CDs does get boring after a while :/

Well for the normal short trip, plain and simple radio is fine for me. And for longer trips, bring cds or mp3 player. I wouldnt be in a car enough for satelite radio.

I actually bought a Alpine head unit that has a jack for my ipod so I can run my ipod through the actual head unit. That way I get tons of music, don't have to worry about as much of a loss if my car gets stolen, and I don't have to fuble with the ipod while driving, rather I just turn the knob on the head unit to change songs and browse playlists.
On topic, my new head unit is XM ready and I may feel the urge to get a subscription. One of my high school baseball coaches had a satellite radio that he took with the team on long road trips. I remember one night we were riding home listening to Chris Rock. Great times man... great times...
